Liquid Diet Or Atkins Diet 2 Weekl Diet

Recommended Posts

I had mysurgury consult yesterday. I was told Atkins diet 2 weeks or longer before the vsg. I am curious of other input on what their doctor recommended and possibly why? My doctor said the atkins with no carbs and sugar will reduce the size for the operation. I would think maybe atkins and then maybe two days before the operation switch to liquid so the system is cleaned out of all food. Curious to hear replies. I'm in greenville NCand the doctor is Dr. Nazeri of Sothern Surgical.

My DR put me on Protein Drink (premixed or powder mix) for morning and lunch, then lean Protein with a sald or veggies for dinner. I only have to have all liquids day before surgery. First day of the diet was hard, I had head hunger and felt weird to drink my meal. I coped by chewing sugar free gum and increased my Water intake. But I am 4 days in and 9lbs down, have 10 days to go.

I was able to eat normally all the way till 6pm the night before surgery, no problems orcomplications.

My doctor required the liquid diet, but Atkins makes sense. It is very similar to how we are supposed to eat after we start eating real food.< /p>

My doctor had me do an Atkins type for 2 weeks prior to surgery and just liquid from 6pm night before surgery. He said it will reduce the size of the liver and make the liver more pliable just as much as a liquid diet would. And my surgery went just fine and I was told my liver was very healthy and pliable during surgery. Every surgeon has different methods and thoughts though.

I think that's a great idea. Love the way you're thinking.

I was told liquid only for the 2 weeks. I haven't really been able to do just liquid :( This is just day 3 of the 'liquid only' But when I talked with my aunt she said her surgeon only had her do a liquid diet for 3 days. Obviously different surgeons but same procedure.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
