Weird Heating Sensation

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if the following is considered normal for most folks post-op?

My internal temperature has been on the cold side lately where my hands and feet get really cold. To warm up, I have been drinking some hot sugar-free caramel apple cider. For every gulp, i feel it going down until it hits bottom at which point I get a huge burst of radiating heat.

It goes pretty low, almost 2-3 inches below belly button ( perhaps this is bottom of stomach or intestines, don't know). Do others get this sudden burst of radiating heat?

This didn't occur prior to surgery. I am currently 3 months post-op and about 100 lbs lost. This is not a huge concern, but is a weird sensation.

Not to ignore your direct question, but you are going to get odd sensations as your stomach heals - remember you have nerv endings that were severed, blood vessels re-routing, tissue reconnecting - alot is going on right now...it is also why it is really important to measure food portions before you eat, you can actually be too full and it not register sometimes, even when it does others.

Let us know what you find out, please :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
