barbi1281 112 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm finally approved and scheduled! I have battled with Cigna and I do mean battled for my approval. I have spent more time on the phone with Cigna and my surgeon's office than I have spent with my children in the past 3 weeks and I am the queen of complaining and getting things fixed! After being denied twice I even cited the Maryland law mandating coverage for this procedure with no luck. Finally, my surgeon had a peer to peer yesterday and now I'm scheduled for October 16th with approval! If anyone tells me I've taken the easy way out, I may just punch them . liquids start Monday and I'm looking forward to finding a spot on the losers bench! 7 IsB, Odee, Pookeyism and 4 others reacted to this

My best advice is to follow the rules perfectly and keep meticulous records... that way if you have to fight like I did it's easier. My surgeon told me that most people aren't like me when dealing with the insurance and it takes twice as long and twice as much work to get the denial overturned on his end. I used to work for United Healthcare so I knew what I was dealing with going in .
