Information Seminar Tonight!

Recommended Posts

I had mine done at Southern Surgical Hospital with Dr. Moore. The staff was amazing. There are several doctors in the practice and they work out of three hospital locations. I believe they are Slidell (where my surgery was), Metairie, and I think Gretna. I have no complaints with the process and it all went smoothly on their part. I was self pay so I didn't have to go through all the tests needed for insurance. They also specialize in laparoscopic surgery and were very knowledgeable.

I'm probably going to do mine through Ochsner. They have 2 surgeons to choose from and I met a lot of the staff at the meeting on Thursday. They all seemed wonderful.

I am going through my ins. Which means 6 months of a nutritionist and many tests... I called my ins yesterday around 4:15 and they transferred me to a department that is supposed to close at 5... It was 4:30 by the time I got transferred and tat department was already closed... Now I have to wait til Monday. So that was a little frustrating...

I was so much calmer about the thought of surgery after my seminar. Any questions or fears you have' date=' write them down. I had questions and of course in the moment forgot what I wanted to ask.

Otherwise, take it all in and you can make your ultimate decision armed with as much info as possible.

Good luck!![/quote']

What doctor are you considering? Dr Noyan in nj did mine I highly recommend him

Ameejo the whole process can get frustrating. Hang in there it's worth it in the end.

I will NOT give up... This dream of being healthy and skinny and having children one day is worth so much more that the frustration this process many bring =]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
