I have been mulling this over since day 1 post op, and I am absolutely befuddled. Tell me what you think

Day of surgery, I got there, was put in one of those Bair paws warmer gowns and left in a little room by myself (husband had to get the kids on the bus after dropping me off) nurse came in and out, super nice and attentive. Anesthesia came in with 2 IVs, didn't hook up right away. Waited some more. Got weighed, back in bed. Surgeon and anesthesia and OR Nurses came in to talk, last consents, Iv started... Then NOTHING, until recovery. I have had several surgeries before and I ALWAyS remember being wheeled into the OR, transferring to that table, IV, count backwards and fade to black. This has always been the spot I start to panic with the overhead lights, the people in masks, the clinking of the instruments. I DONT REMEMBER ANY OF IT. It's kind of making me a little crazy, missing that whole piece. Is it possible anesthesia gave me some twilight before being wheeled out to the OR because I did warn them of my Panic. Should I ask my surgeon, or let it go. Was it so scarey to me that I have just tucked it out of my consciousness. I am normally a very sane, down to Earth, realistic kind of person, so this is very odd for me.

RN, I was given medicine to make me loopy before being taken into the OR. I barely remember getting on the table. I wouldn't worry about it. They were just probably trying to help you relax.

This might be a TMI question so my apologies beforehand. I'm now on my full liquids. I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and snack. Every time I drink one, I have to go to the bathroom. What in the world could be causing diaherria (I know that's not spelled right lol)? I am almost to the point of giving up on them. The shakes did not do that to me before surgery.

Fluid in, fluid out. Body is adjusting to sleevie and now full liquids. People say they become lactose intolerant after being sleeved. I guess that's possible, but my theory is a lot of these Protein Drinks are sweetened with sucralose. Sucralose can cause bloating, gas and diarrhea in large quantities. If you ever ate those Sugar Free Chocolates in a bag, like the nutty clusters or chocolate mints, you'll know what I mean. I had awful diarhhea the first few days, running down my leg, messin my PJs awful, but nothing in the last 2 days

It is hard to believe I am a week and a day post op. I must admit I am ready to advance my diet. I also must admit that if it wasn't for you guys I would be off VST. Just so much BS on the boards. Yes, I am emotional right now and usually have thicker skin, but not right now.

Hi fellow sleevers, I also had surgery on Oct 4th. At my start I was 318 I am now 310. I started my protine diet Sep 27 now on clear liquid diet. The gas is HORRIBLE. I take 1 SIP and burp for 15 min or move around too much and seemingly burp forever. I just started the previcid hopefully that helps

I feel spectacular! It is 7:30am the first morning after my surgery and all is good. I woke yesterday evening after my around 7:00 pm and was a little groggy, I kept drifting in and out of sleeping last night. I would wake up, go for a walk, pee, then get back into bed sip some Water and fall asleep again. It took me the better part of 12 hours to sip 16.9 oz. of water. The nurse just brought me a cup of Decaf tea and it tastes so good. The warm tea feels very nice going down.

I am so impressed with the quality of care and the attention I am receiving here at OCC! This is such a classy operation they run here. I highly recommend Dr. Ortiz and his staff at Obesity Control Center to anyone who has not yet chosen a surgeon. Dr. Miranda is a great nutritionist and was comfortable and easy to discuss post surgical diets...she didn't come across as preachy but is genuinely concerned that we have all the information necessary to be successful. Nurse Josephina is so kind and gentle, she knows what she is doing and that, combined with a nurturing attitude, made all of the pre surgical admittance a smooth experience. And Dr. Ortiz is fantastic. He clearly explained the whole process to me prior to surgery and thoroughly answered all of my questions.

I am happy to be sitting here on the flip side of sleeve surgery. What a wonderful investment I have made in myself, absolutely no regrets!

I hope the rest of my October brothers and sisters are well!

I jut got on the scale this morning and had to step on it again to make sure it was right! 248!!! I haven't been in the 240's for 4 years! That means a 12 loss since surgery last Tuesday and 32lb loss total since the beginning of my pre op diet! Hope it's all smooth sailing like this:) keep up the good work my octosleevers!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
