Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I had the gastric sleeve on Monday, October 8th. Absolutely no pain no nasueau and no gas. Everything went well. Today is the second day of the full liquid diet and all is well. Not a fan of the cream of wheat, but I'll manage. I'm not up to the full 64/64 but working my way toward it. Drinking Mu Protein Shake as we speak.

So frustrated. I'm down 30 lbs since surgery. A lot of weight in 11 days but I've lost nothing in 2 days. I'm now on pureed so maybe my body needs to adjust but I was hoping I'd be one of the lucky ones who lost a mass amount the first couple months. I hope I don't stall for a long time.

You will go weeks without weight loss. 2 days is nothing. I advise you take measurements because you are going to drive yourself crazy if 2 days bother u

My husband took the scale. Lol. I'm gonna do once a week. I don't want to be obsessed with weighing all the time I know I'll go crazy. Thanks

Had my operation 10-1-12 I'm suppose to be on liquids till the 17th but I have to admit I cheated today. Had saline crackers . When did anyone start yo have food and did it hurt as it went down?

I've been eating soft foods since 6 days post op. Some consider it cheating but Protein shakes were making my side hurt. I just chew my food up very well and haven't had any problems. I eat 1 egg for Breakfast and focus on eating Protein first. I'm getting in about 400-600 cals a day. My food didn't hurt when it went down and I haven't had any pain.

My NUT and DR do not do mushies or full liquids. It seems to be that way in all the "foreign" areas. This AM I had 1 egg, 1 slice of turkey bacon and a tbsp of no sugar added frui cocktail. lunch I had 1/3 cup of shredded chicken with tomatoes smashed with a bit olive oil to keep in moist. I also had a few pieces of papaya and fresh strawberries. I am suppose to eat 1 carb a day no bread. I had a half of a mini arepa. I will make mashed cauliflower for tonight. I am also making a eggplant Parmesan recipe from weight watchers. Everything has gone down well. I only drink plan Water, hot tea, or aromatics. I am getting between 50-60 OSS a day. I had my first cafe latte today went down fine.

Hips 55.3

Right thigh 32.5

Left thigh 33.3

Sounds yummy :) So happy to see I'm not the only person eating regular food. My friend told me that I wouldn't be able to eat ground beef and chicken because my sleeve wouldn't like it but both of them went down fine. I was very worried when I was pre-op about not being able to eat red meat because I didn't want my Iron to go low and I've had nothing but horrible experience with Iron pills in the past. I ate a baked drumstick last night and it took me about 3 hrs to eat it all but it felt good to be able to eat my Protein and I didn't have any stomach issues.

I'm very ready to chew. I ate about 2 oz of applesauce earlier, but I would love some taco meat, refried Beans and some cheese. I can now have the beans, thankfully.

I can't eat bread, rice, pork, or beef yet and of course sugar. I am really happy with my dr and nut's plan. I feel like I am retaining Water though. It is not from salt . I eat very little processed foods. I am keeping my eye on that. Do not want kidney issues

Oh I can't have beans yet. Because of the gases which I have no issues with.

Ok so I'm 4 days out i was sleeved on the 9th I'm doing good other than the pain from my left side where my stomach was removed its a larger incision. every time I walk I feel like everything wants to fall down. I was wearing a binder but it made me break out and itch so bad that I have a rash all over my belly :( Does anyone know when this pain subsides a little? it's not awful just really uncomfortable and tires me out quicker I have to literally hold my hand there for pressure..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
