Alchohol Consumption After Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering, after getting sleeved, can wine or any other alcohol be consumed? I'm in no way an alcoholic but I have a wedding in April to go to and I was wondering what the rules were?

I think each surgeon has different guidelines. I asked that question 1 month post op 2 weeks ago and he said wait for 6 months. Others on here I am sure have done so beforehand. So, I'd just ask your surgeon what his guidelines are.

I probably shouldn't be saying this out loud but I tried alcohol last week and it gave me the diarreah. It's only been a month since surgery. Ooops. I'll try again in a week or two. Is that bad?

My surgeon always says at his seminars that after surgery you will become a "cheap date" because for most alcohol hits you quicker and it dont take much to catch a buzz lol

So true about being a cheap date , even for food. I don't order when I go out, I just get bites from whomever I am with. Clubbing, all I need is enough for on drink and a sober driver!

I have a vacation in three weeks to Napa/Sonoma for a week long tour of wine country and by then I will be four weeks out from surgery. The vacation was planned a year ago and the surgery date that came up just happened when it did. Talk about timing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
