Still Feeling Full?

Recommended Posts

My surgery date was Sept 24. I have done really well, never took any pain or nausea meds. I am now 9 days post op. My doctor has me on full liguids till Oct 11, then pureed for 2 weeks then soft for 2 weeks. I am allowed cream of wheat, which I hate, so I substituted grits. It was wonderful! My questions is this..I ate the grits at around 3:30 pm yeasterday. I still feel full and dont want anything to eat and its almost 4 pm the next day. I have had one Protein Shake today (love the Carb control by Slimfast 20 gms Protein and only 2 net carbs) and don't have desire for anything else. Has anyone else experienced same? Also sort of down today. sleeping more and not wanting to walk.. I am up to 2 miles split up into 1 mile at a time.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you drink your between meal liquids (water) I find it helps take the fullness away because liquids pass through the sleeve quickly and will not make you feel full.

It works for me and I am 20 days post op.

Hey I was sleeved Sept 25th. I'm still trying to figure out the fullness thing. I have been able to eat or drink about 3 ounces and then I get a tightness feeling so I guess that's the full feeling. I too have had the feeling of not wanting to eat, but I know how important it is to do it. Drink your Water, just 2 oz. at a time and see if that doesn't help. You need your Protein or you are going to feel like crap. Good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
