Just a quick question... Has anyone noticed a change in their period since surgery? I keep spotting and it just won't start all the way.. This is my first one since surgery. Just wondering

I was regular all the way up to surgery which was a month ago. It's time now and I usually spot for a day then it comes but now I've been spotting for 3 and its hardly anything. So weird

Before surgery I would have one, then go months and months without a period, since surgery I have been having mine regular now, it might be a day or two off from the previous month, but it's always the last week of the month.

Before surgery I had a very irregular period. Sometimes I would go months without it and I also had bled for three months straight at one point.

Since surgery I have been completely regular.

My gyno said that it gets regular because the heavier you are the more estrogen your body stores. I too experienced the same thing and was a little worried. Hope this helps

I think it may be the stress of the surgery on your body, it should straighten out soon though.

Mine are jacked up! I had a month long one after surgery, then a couple normal-ish ones and now I'm going on 3 weeks of fun times with the all too frequent visitor...

Doc says it's the hormones being released from my fat stores and variances in periods are normal though.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
