Before 50 20 Posted October 3, 2012 I was only allowed Protien drinks for Breakfast and lunch and a salad with protien in it with fat free Salad Dressing for the first four days, and then protien drinks for teh balance of time but on the last 3 days Clear Liquids only. This was the hardest part.. but it is worth it in the end.
Nick'sMom 54 Posted October 3, 2012 Im having surgery next month an wondering what kind of food I will be able to eat for those 2 weeks before....thanks I ment pre op sorry Every dr. is different. My dr. only allowed Protein Drinks and I had to keep my calories between 700-900. So ask him and then follow it as closely as you can for the best results and for the least complications. Good luck - you will do great.
ThinnerTiff 172 Posted October 6, 2012 Im on a no carb diet the week before but the day before surgery i can only have clear liquids only!!
bkz3 17 Posted October 11, 2012 Every surgeon is different, some never require a special pre op diet at all, other then clear liquids only the day before. My surgeon had me do a 10 day high Protein liquid only diet, (9 days of 5-6 Protein Shakes a day, then sugar free jell-o, sugar free popsicles, milk, broth, coffee, tea, etc) Then on the 10th day was the clear liquids only. As someone already suggested, I would check with your dr first and see if he has any specific requirements. The diet I was on was to shrink up the fat around my organs to make for a smoother surgery and recovery. 1 Smallhockey reacted to this
