Going to Mexico?

Recommended Posts

I have to ask you.......Do you beleive everything you see or read. I think your choice to forward that was in bad taste for the people planning to go to Mexico. I have done enough research that I found that on my own anyway, way before I made my appointment to go to mexico. Its a scare tactic so the US doctor can market themselves and scare the crap out of people.:angry You needed me to spell that out for you. GROW UP and do more research before you send that stupid e-mail dumb ass!

I just looked at that article and who even knows if it's true. Let me assure you that I had my band in Mexico in July and am doing great. My doctor gave me the box that band came out of along with the wallet card with the serial number and my operation report typed up in English. The gal who also had her band done the same day had her sister with her who is a SURGICAL NURSE and had been down to the same hospital with our doctor 2-3x. She had 4 friends get banded by Dr. Rod. He showed her the operation room and spent a great deal of time with her knowing she would want to check things out. So, she was with her sister and certainly wouldn't take her sister to someone who she didn't think was competent. So, I've heard many good things about your doctors. You have done your research and don't let some type of "scare tactic" keep you from the band. There are complications that can happen and it doesn't matter what country you are in. Go to the Inamed website and read up. Just be informed. Okay, enough said. Let us know when you get back from Mexico with your bands!!

Thanks Mary!!! It is your banding partner. I haven't posted much but I decided to come on and see how everything is. You are totally correct in what you said about my sister. She would NEVER take me to a doctor that wasn't excellent. Dr. Rod has an excellent reputation. He has taught many of the doctors in the states.

I don't think you can lift anything over 20 pounds until about 4 weeks , I have heard no serious weight training til 3 months depends I guess, I walked everyday since the surgery and started jogging and cardio at about a month ask your doctor. Pack light would be my suggestion fro travelling and you will prob sleep on the way home anyway, maybe bring your own fluids to eat as it really sucks to watch everyone else eat while u just drink. You will feel yucky but just take ur pain killer and sleep GOOD LUCK

Hello - I just got back yesterday from Monterrey. My doctor was Arturo Rodriguez. I was very impressed with Dr. R, his staff and the hospital. My mom and DH were a bit apprehensive about being in a "foreign" hospital but it was as modern and clean as the ones here.

I would do it again, plus the cost was so much less than here the Pacific NW. (I am self pay) You can have a bad experience anywhere if that is what you are expecting. I had a positive attitude and the expectation that all would go well, thus it did. In ten years or so when I need some "work" done on my face, I will most likely head back to Mexico.

:)

I'm going to Mexico for my plastic surgery in December, can't imagine going anywhere else! I LOVE the medical care in Mexico.

I realize this is an old thread but each time I see this link I have to laugh. Do you suppose those that have this on their website know what "urban legend" means?

Check out the sutures on that port. They aren't cut. What did the US surgeon do, rip it out of the abdomen? Honestly, how did they remove the port without cutting the sutures?

Some docs will do anything to down Mexico as a whole. Not really bright in the end, it tends to chase away people who actually use their critical thinking skills.
