Personal Question For Women Only

Recommended Posts

Totally TMI, but this seems to be the place to ask it. Since I gained weight I noticed that I started leaking a little bit (I don't have children). I attribute it to the extra belly fat pressing on my bladder. Do you think this will go away as I lose weight? A girl can only do so many kegels. <_< Again, TMI. I'm sorry but I don't want to have to wear a pad for the rest of my life.

Being obese can cause weakened muscles. Normally referred to as "Stress Incontinence" Here is a great article http://www.livestrong.com/article/209381-what-are-the-causes-of-leaky-bladder/

The question at hand is, would it go away with weight loss. I am not a nurse, nor a doctor, but I would imagine as you lose weight your muscles will become more toned and could help reduce if not correct the problem.

I hope so!! It is one of my current issues as well...I was embarrassed but asked my patient coordinator if i would be able to wear panties after surgery (and pad) otherwise I would be leaving puddles around like a new puppy!!

Great question! Yes, since gaining more recently, I've noticed a little leakage myself (no kids, and im the friggin QUEEN of Kegals...). I would imagine this will resolve itself as we lose weight...im encouraged by the answers above...Whew!

I noticed that I no longer have this problem either. I've lost a little over 30 pounds.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
