8 days after major surgery and you are giving up already. How did you think you would feel after having your gut yanked out a hole in the skin. Put on the big kids clothes and make this thing work or better yet new life work for you. If you do not grow up now this will be one long hell hole trip.

I totally hear you!! I was sleeved the same day as you. It does suck. I had to mentally prepare it would suck. I am still on full liquids, no foods. I can not get all my Water in and I am barely doing my 3 shakes. I have been drinking sooo much broth. Instead of drinking water/ broth etc. try spoon feeding yourself. I know it goes slow but at least it will not get stuck in there. Thats how I felt when I took a big drink. It was like it was stuck and I swallowed air. I will be praying things get better. Try and stay positive.

Justine13-we aren't passing judgement-we are trying to help her. She may not like what she hears but it is the truth. Sometimes you have to use tough love when someone is that down or fed-up. We don't want her giving up already-we want her to be a success. Please don't take what I posted or what Amazon13 posted as being judgemental-that was not my intent & I dount it was Amazon13's either.

I was sleeved the same day and I feel so bad for you that you are experiencing complications. Are you taking Prilosec or something similar? I was really not able to sip, I drink way faster and more than I should. It is so frustrating how you honestly can only begin to imagine what you will go through post op.

My BFF had similar issues as you at first. I remember her saying over and over she wanted to die and I still went through with this because I knew I WOULD die if I didn't get my **** together.

Hang in there sounds so flip but really, everyday is a new one and hopefully a step forward in your healing.

I agree about finding a local support system, talking to your doc and nut and trying to get further answers about why this is so uncomfortable for you. trying to locate the source of the problem.

One day at a time. Sometimes it's one moment at a time Letia. It does get easier. Just give yourself the time it takes. Hang in there.

Letia, hang in there! Your second post sounds much calmer and sane. That's the problem with getting your feelings through in writing. It really comes out differently and more intensely with each reader! You'll survive and be happy with more time.

We all say things at certain times that we regret but it's part of learning. If it is how you are feeling at that time, so be it. Just remember, you do need a support system for any major event.

Oh girl I feel your pain!!!!! I had the worst pain for about 12 days straight!!!!! No amount of pain meds helped. I regretted doing the surgery and felt the same way. However.... There is a bright side!!!! Today I am 13 weeks out and lost 61 lbs and eating and drinking whatever I like. It gets better! The doc kept telling me to give it time and I was so annoyed by him! But he was right. Hang in there. It DOES get better!!!

I felt the same way!!! Your going to have a few brake downs, I was sleeved on aug 20 and I promise you, it does get better!!! I would just hold a water bottle to my lips and just sip and watch TV, like a hamster lol. But I finally got fluids in! And I lived on sugar free Popsicles. My Protein Drink was chocolate ensure with an additional scoop of strawberry whey Protein and ice I blended it so it was like a frappe with a lil bit of texture from ice. You will find what works for you. I can eat anything now just smaller portions and I'm only a few weeks ahead of you, hang in there Hun I promise this part will pass. You already did the worst part it only gets better!!! :). I'm down 35 lbs tooo!! Woot woot!!!

Hi Letia

I hope you are feeling better. I know exactly how you feel as I felt the same way. I think it is a pretty common reaction and everybody deals with their own experience the best way they can. Hang in there as it gets easier each day as the swelling in your stomach goes down. I am in Australia and my surgeon advised that only liquids for the first two weeks and then mushy food for the next 2 weeks before graduating to normal food. I know every surgeon has their own regime but the rational behind this is to reduce the movement of your stomach during digestion while it is trying to heal. This might help you if you are feeling pain but talk to your doctor.

I am 11 weeks out from surgery and feeling a lot more positive about eating and I am sure you will too - especially when you see the weight coming off and start getting the compliments. Take care.

Lmfao.... Sorry I didnt mean that. Sounds like some withdrawls couple with psychiatric episodes and remorse. But hey guess what...its done. Now your just gonna have to live with it and enjoy the skinnier you that you WILL become because its going to FORCE you.

I am truely sorry but alot of people I know would die to be in your shoes because they cant afford to pay for their surgery. Man up cause your being over dramatic

Thats what the second post should have stated

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
