niecy65 5 Posted October 5, 2012 I am not scheduled for surgery yet, still waiting for approval. It is super helpful to know what the challenges will be. I know my hardest loss will be not being able to binge for comfort. I hope you get feeling better soon! 2 Earwood and Capt Derel reacted to this

lbroberts2909 9 Posted October 6, 2012 Omg! I'm praying for you! Thanks for sharing a Pepsi & corn beef lol!!! Letia idk why ppl show no compassion and always say things like get over it, get a grip why did you do it if you were happy and all that other stuff! I had surgery 7/24 for 4wks I felt exact same way and had 6 months of nutrition classes studied and researched daily for 2yrs. A physcological profile and still had the same exact feeling of regret pain frustration as you expressed thank God I had a more understanding group that showed support and reassurance. So I will say this as many understand your rant. This does get better I am finally feeling like me praying your recovery be quick. Keep us posted. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
bakawaka 59 Posted October 6, 2012 My physician stated that a few (only a minority) of his patients have regretted the surgery despite excellent health effects. Those who have regretted it make the statement that food is one of the pleasures of life and that post surgery they no longer are able to eat what they want. Nonetheless, their blood work shows excellent health. I'm still pre-op. I anticipate going through moments of regret post-op. I think it's inherently human to have regrets after any major decision. But I'm still determined to go through with this surgery. I hope to have the strength to work through those moments of regret. I have fears about the possible regrets. As always, I wish everyone in this forum a successful journey. 1 Earwood reacted to this

IsaacsGram 58 Posted October 7, 2012 I find that leaning back or standing makes things go down easier. You may be gulping and not realizing all the air you are taking in- I didn't . Gas may also be an issue , it doesn't feel like regular gas , just pain. Gas x may help. Best wishes .
ReduceReuseRecycle-Me! 119 Posted October 7, 2012 I feel ya girl...I went to Mexico so there was no pre-op pysch counseling to prepare me for the emotional side of this journey but the first 2 weeks are the worst. If food was an emotional comfort then be prepared for some possible depression etc..as you have to learn to cope without your 'feel-good' friend by your side. The thing that is gong to snap you out of your funk is when you start seeing the results! Down 32 lbs in 5 weeks makes me want to yell' date=' 'SCREW YOU CHEESEBURGERS HAHAHA' and it feels great when I put on my clothes now. Hang in there....I bet looking back in a year you will have NO REGRETS! God bless you in your journey[/quote'] OMG! "SCREW YOU, CHEESEBURGERS!" That is the best! 1 Earwood reacted to this
sheila77 0 Posted October 7, 2012 Are you still on painkillers? I felt this way for a few days and someone suggested stopping taking codeine and just take Tylenol. Within 8 hours of stopping the codeine I was a different person. I could drink my Protein shakes and Water and take my other meds without pain. I admit this is one of my biggest fears, second only to my fear of severe post-op complications like leakage...I don't know what it is going to feel like not to have the emotional comfort of food...in the past I've suffered severe anxiety and panic attacks, and I have a great fear of the return of those symptoms without the comfort of food 1 Earwood reacted to this

I'm thankful now my food addiction is gone out of my life that held me in bondage for so many years but breaking thru that barrier as with any addiction is not easy. The long-term health benefits are well worth the short-term emotional distress you will probably experience. It's your decision but if you go thru with it make sure you get into counseling or a great support group pre-op through post-op until you get over the rough Patches. And you know we are always here for you on these forums. Good luck and God Bless! 1 tigerbelle reacted to this
shellybee 14 Posted October 10, 2012 Hello Sorry for your issues. I'm being sleeved tomorrow. But you really need to get your thoughts right, I understand it must be crazy trying to drink and it's painful. I would say get a bag if ice crack it up suck on that try to freeze your Protein drinks ( ice trays) and try to get your Protein in that way. You will get dehydrated like that. However keep calling you DR's office and stress to them the pain. Maybe you need a X-ray / ultra sound. I really hope you feel better and adjust to your sleeve. Praying for you. My 1st 2-3 week was the worse... My side hurt so bad I felt like I had been beat to death on my left side & I was hospitalized a week after surgery for de-hydration & of course the side pain... Water was hard, everything was hard b/c I had this stuck feeling w/ everything that went down, I'm still dealing w/ that but not as bad & I hope in another month it will be gone completely & I can eat like I did pre-op & I mean as far as the feeling of the food goin down, not the portions of course... I have had plenty of days when I wish I could go back to the day before surgery & say you know what I change my mind but I didn't so I have to deal w/ the choice I have made... Ik it's hard but you can do this, just take it day by day... Make a goal of getting your liquids in & then Protein - I still have an issue getting my Protein in b/c eating is not pleasurable for me, it's like a chore but it will get better... Ik on some of my rants I just want someone to truly understand me & how I feel, not chastise me or speak to me all crazy so I'm here telling you honestly I been thru what you have been thru but it will get better & if you need to speak w/ the Dr & nurses please do it, they are there to help & guide you thru all this... I hope & pray you are feeling better now & know that you will have bad days but once the weight starts come'n off & you get your energy back you will feel better... Christeena 1 Posted October 12, 2012 Hi Letia, I also had my sleeve done on Sept. 24, and I know exactly how u feel. There's been days I just want to scream, because I'm so hungry, every time I breath I honestly feel hollow inside. No matter if it Water or Jello I struggle with the feel of a big ball of air going down my throat very painful. I can't tell u how many times I run to the restroom a day, cause it won't down. The 1&2 week of my post op were a breeze but I'm really struggling on my 3 week, but Im just going to take day by day and I'm staying focused on the big picture:) Letia stay strong and hang in there your not alone! GOD BLESS
