Suggestions For Dinner Tonight- Pre-Surgery- Need Ideas!

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I am hoping to have surgery in January. I need to lose 15 lbs before the surgeon will give a surgical date. I need to lose this weight! My schedule is hectic and I have been really good about planning my meals; keeping to 900-1000 cal/day and starting at the gym(topic for another post). However on Tuesday nights (tonight) I leave work at 5:30, Gym till 6pm drive to volunteer work for 7pm and not home until 9-9:30 pm. I eat lunch at 12:30, snack at 3:30-4pm, by 6pm I am ravenous. I drive by no less than 6 fast food places and one grocery store one the way to the volunteer work. I need suggestions for what I can buy at the supermarket that I can eat while driving that will be around 300-400 calories. I know if i do not eat before 9pm I will not make good choices when I get home, if I make it that far without a big mac calling me.

You could stop at the deli, and get some low sodium deli meat or a few pieces of rotisserie chicken. They usually have raw or fresh veggies for a side. I eat on the run a lot too. Drinking Protein Shakes has been a life saver.

Protein Shakes are my go to in that situation. You might as well get used to them since you'll be drinking them as meals soon enough. A Protein Shake as a snack is a good way to start the habit.

Another grocery store idea is nuts or trail mix. If your grocery store has a bulk aisle you can make your own trail mix.

Or buy a big bag of trail mix and divide it up into small snack-size ziploc bags. Stick one in your purse on your way out in the morning!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
