Good day... I have no experience with Nioxin, but had taken Biotin 7 months prior to surgery and although continued faithfully, I still started losing hair around month five and didn't stop until about 8 and half months. Nothing seemed to work until I started using "Fall Fight" Shampoo and conditioner by Garnier. It has Biotin in it. I also bought some Natural Biotin shampoo but it was hard on my hair. I am not trying to sell you anything, it may even be coincidence, but my hair started slowing down with loss the very first week. I am about 4 weeks into the shampoo regiment and I can honestly say that I have normal Hair loss now. Nothing more than I ever did. We all experience the loss, I read about it , yet the stalls and hair loss don't hit home until it happens to you. It too shall pass. I wish you the best of luck..

I have a friend who is a beautician and a breast cancer surivor. She lost her hair due to chemo therapy treatments. She used nioxin, and suggested it to me as well. I'm still pre-op, but have used it some to try and strengthen my hair prior to surgery. She said she used it religiously and massaged the leave-in treatment into her scalp well. She now has a very healthy, thick head of hair, and mentioned that it is now curly as it was straight prior to her losing it. I can't guarantee that Nioxin is the answer, but this was her experience.

Just started following this post. I'm 3 weeks post op and very concerned about the hair loss...since I have really thin hair to begin with. Hope you don't mind me 'stalking' just really interested in what you hear from others.

GOOD LUCK!

I have pcos and was always worried about thinning hair, so I've used nioxin for the last 2 years. I'm 6 months post op and still use it. I swear by it. I also use Xfusion, which doesn't help with growth, but does help camouflage thinning hair.

I'm loosing a lot of hair for months now and been using Nioxin. I bought like 5 different Nioxin products now. I have very thin, fine and oily hair. The products haven't helped much if at all. If your body is inclined, nothing will actually stop the Hair loss all you can do is use products that coat the hair to make it seem fuller and thicker. I also had been taking Biotin since before surgery but only 1,000 mg a day. My hairdresser said to use a natural brush and brush the scalp every night to stimulate the hair re-growth. She also told me to take 5,000-10,000 mg of biotin. Biotin is Water soluable and our body will take what it needs and discard the rest. I've actually bought 2 wigs now that look pretty good. It's very depressing to lose your hair especially when it started out thin and fine. I hear the loss will stop but it's been months now for me and I don't see a slow down at all. I just started taking 10,000 mg of biotin daily so hopefully in a month or two it will start to help. The hair loss is caused from internal neutrant loss so it's from inside and hair care products only treat what's already outside your body.

I am pre-op, but I lost a bunch of hair with thyroid problems. I have tried Nioxin, but found it too drying on my hair, which seemed to make the problem worse. But.. keep in mind- I color and blow dry my hair too.

I read on someones blog, either here or at OH that taking zinc 50mg every three days helps with hairloss. I also read here or at OH that Biosil works also. I am pre-op so I dont know for sure if all this works but I bought all of it and will try it. I do know that you have to be very careful with zinc though, I'm going to talk to my doc prior to usage. I even bought Nioxin. I have alopecia areata and cannot afford to lose anymore hair, I have three bald spots hidden by alot of hair, that are being treated with cortisone shots in my head. Hmmmm....I wonder if the shots will work at the thinning spots on peoples heads, I'm going to ask my dermatologist when I go back the end of Oct. This is my one and only part of the WHOLE surgery that I am scared of.

Have you tried the calcium gummies? I love them and it's like looking forward to desert.

You are the only person that has mentioned seeing a dermatologist (even though it is not related to the surgery). I have been wondering about that myself...is there anything that they can do?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
