laceyb 31 Posted October 2, 2012 I'm 10 days post op and right now I have the worst heartburn. My doctor didn't write me any kind of prescription though. I was wondering is it okay to have a chewable tums?
melting me 9 Posted October 2, 2012 I don't think so. They are Calcium carbonate and I was told to stay away. I take a melting hearburn pill daily from the surgeon prilosec. This is a known issue with Bariatric surgery. If the surgeon will not provide a script I would call my primary care or just go the the pharmacy and ask for a melting product or chewable product. I have issues at times still and I am 2 months out.
sleeveconvert 55 Posted October 2, 2012 I am one month out and too am having heart burn- reflux like issues.prilosce is over the counter-- is the melt away a prescription?
melting me 9 Posted October 2, 2012 Yes it is, but the pharmacist said there was an over the counter variety. I recommend the rx as it is much cheaper depending on the insurance you may have. If you can't get it from the surgeon call your primary care.
slimshadee 26 Posted October 3, 2012 6 months out and I still have the worst heartburn. I take prevacid 30mg each day to get any relief. I would buy OTC Prilosec or Prevacid open the capsules...need to take 2...and put in yogurt or applesauce and swallow. Just a teaspoon is enough.
laceyb 31 Posted October 3, 2012 I went to the pharmacy today and the Prilosec was super expensive so he found me something else. Here's to hoping it works.
