What is your motivation to make this life style change? Today I'm struggling and I just need some reassurance. I have two beautiful active kids and a loving husband that deserve me at 100%. I'm always tired and dragging and I'm too young to feel like this but today I'm thinking of all that can go wrong.

Feeling better and having more energy is a big motivator for me. I'm just tired of being tired, tired of dragging around all this extra weight, and seeing myself in my mother's shoes in 20 years, disabled at 60 with heart disease. I've been having doubts about this surgery too, actually trying for my surgery date after the first of the year, so it's hard for me to look onto the "other" side, after surgery. I'm going on faith and hope right now, I try to focus on the positive by looking at cute, smaller clothes, imagining how I will feel and look as a thin person, increasing my self esteem and confidence, feeling sexier, ect..we can't know everything about the outcome, and to worry and fuss about every "bad" possibility diminishes our health even more. We are just as apt to be one of the good outcomes! Stay positive!! :)

Can I recommend you all make a list of top ten reasons you are having surgery?

This will help out when you have those doubts. You can pull out before surgery and reread to calm your nerves. You can pull out the days after surgery when we sometime doubt what we have done.

Looking back is easy. Looking forward is brave.

I knew it was time when I couldn't get out of bed anymore. The body aches and pains were so great that it consumed my life. I watched others make this life change and fail regaining all and more of the weight in a year or two. I knew it was time when I heard my 5 year old tell her sister that she couldn't play because her back hurt too bad.

I have lost over 50 pounds in 2 months and feel like a new person. I was at the park this weekend with the family and ran after my 3 year old. I wasn't able to do that before. We all played, I could fit on the slide and in a swing. It felt great. I have been wearing clothes that I haven't been able to wear in over 5 years.

I can do things today that I couldn't do before. I have more self confidence, stand taller, and above all respect myself. This was not an easy choice to make, but I am a new, improved version of myself and don't regret a moment.

50 pounds in 2 months is awesome. Talk about taking your life back. I'm not gonna chicken out I'm going to do it. I really need my nerves to just chill out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
