November 13th with Dr Ariel Ortiz!

Tiffany i'm considering WLS with Dr. A. Ortiz. Did you use a scheduling agency? Fees for surgery? Your feedback would be appreciated.

Not sure what the statistics are' date=' but I know quite a few that had/have problems with their band two or three years in, after initially doing great with it. I was successful with my band for about 2 years, but it came with many restrictions in foods I could tolerate without getting stuck. One day my band acted up and closed shut for no reason and I've had problems ever since. Having the band unflled over a year ago did not help much, most days I still had problems getting liquids down - but at the same time managed to pick up weight again - thanks to slider foods [/quote']

Slider foods....uggghhhh I'm in the same boat as you. Band in 2007 lost 100 lbs, slip in 2011 and gained 100lbs. My sleeve date is November 14th and I'm very excited but somewhat disappointed with the thought of starting over. I followed my band diet religiously. I was happy with the results then the problems started. I'm looking forward to this journey but the lingering disappointment still lingers on.....

I am scheduled for Nov. 23 with Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez. I begin my preop diet on Monday. I am optimistic and a little apprehensive but really looking forward to getting the whole process started.

I know ... pretty frustrating and dissapointing to start all over, but at least we're heading in the right direction again and this time with a much better tool ;-)

I'm doing research for that doctor

Can you call me 818)9673700 my name is Nune. How much you paying?

I went to Dr. Alvarez, had my surgery 3 months ago today. He is an awesome surgeon, he takes very good care of his patients. He is more money, but worth every dime.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
