Hey all,

Its almost here @ midnight it will make 17days until I am sleeve. I just have a little problem. I have only 4 days off from work after surgery. Is that enough time off after surgery?

As a person who is 19 days out I feel that four days off of work is not nearly enough time to recuperate . Even with a sedentary job. I think you should be prepared to be off longer if you need.

I agree that you may need a little more time. I took off 2 weeks and that seemed perfect for me, not because u was in pain but I had to get used to my new tummy and eating and that was a huge adjustment for me. I also felt tired a lot so I knew there was no way I could return to work and not fall asleep at my desk. If you can only get 4 days I'm sure you wil make it thru but in my opinion your body needs a little more time to heal :) best if luck to you.

I took a week off and was fine. I agree you should plan on taking more time off just in case you don't feel with energy to go in.

If I get sleeved Dec 17th, I am giving myself 3 weeks off until my classes resume.. I would love a whole summer break but you work with what you got :) Good Luck!

I booked 2 wks off . But i went back after 1wk. I felt great .it depends on your job.and how good you feel after the surgery.and you wont know that untill you have it done?

Part of the challenge is planning your intake schedule, too. I think the time off helps you get used to what you need, what works for you and taking time to listen to/figure out your new tummy. I am 10 days postop and took 2 weeks off, glad I did. Energy increases more each day, tho slowly some days. And I had no complications.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
