Recommended Posts

Craving something cold n sweet!

I came up with this:

4 sugar free popsicles (i used 2 orange/2 cherry)

8-10 frozen strawberrys

1 New Whey strawberry Protein tube (42g protein)

Ice (i used abt 1 cup)

Blended it all. Very good!

Sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing. I have a question for you, is the Protein tube something that can be consumed on the clear stage diet the foirst week after surgery? Im desperate for some protein for energy.

I dont know why not. You can put it any drink & theres other flavors also. I got mine at Walmart. You shld actually be able to do the slushy above minus the strawberrys.

The slushy sounds good, but I wanted to make sure you guys know that those Protein tubes do not give you the Protein you need. I made the same mistake because they say "whey" and I found out that any of those protein tubes at Walmart, etc. have collagen and other protein ingredients in them that our bodies can not absorb and uses. So, it is a huge waste of money and a big disappointment.

If you want protein tubes, you can order them from Bariatric Advantage online and they are called Yes whey. Those are the ONLY tubes on the market that I know of that are actually made with 100% whey and not using all of the other stuff in them that we can't absorb and benefit from. Hope this helps. Good luck!

You're welcome. I just hate to see people spend the money and think they are getting in their Protein when they aren't. I totally did the same thing. So frustrating because it is so hard to get it all in!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
