Drs Ideal Weightloss

I dont know if anyone else has experience this or not!!!When I originally went in for my consult with the surgeon he did some figures of what my lowest weight would be after the band...Well I was kinda shocked when he told me about 210 would be where I was when I was done...Of course this would be a loss of about 102 lbs for me...In my mind I was thinking that there is no way that it would stop at 210 and came up with my own numbers myself...Which with me being about 5'9 and with a big boned structure that I would be looking healthier at about 180-190...I dont understand how he came up with those figures and why this would be the least he thought I could lose...I was just wondering if anyone elses surgeon gave them a high number for their total loss for their goal and went beyond this???

Thats weird. Noone can really predict where you'll end up. My doctor actually told me I could get down to 130, when my expectation was 150?? go figure.

A few years back when I was dieting my doctor said I should be at 165. Well, really, even on the high end of normal I should be at 135. She said she would rather me shoot for a goal more within reach.

Now with the band, I'm going for 135!

You go PeloRojo!!! We need to shoot for the stars!!! I think we can go above and beyond what these drs are telling us...Maybe they are just giving us the higher numbers to not get us discouraged

i was so surprised at how high my goal weight is. Right now i am 247 and my goal is 180. I was expecting around 140. But she said that they calculated it for 70% loss. She also added that most of her young patients get to thier ideal weight. I am hoping for 130.

This is bull!

I started at 319 and am now down to 192 and still losing steadily. You can get down to your ideal weight or close to it!

He's just covering his arse!

I can accept the idea that having been heavier, one may not get down to the ideal weight, but I didnt get the band to purposely set a goal that was achievable but still well above my healthy weight range. As it is I'm nearly into my ideal healthy weight range, and I will see how I go as to whether I get to the low end of that (I tend to need less weight on me, quite fine boned, although tall). However, no way would I have set my current 185 as a goal.

My doc never told me he thought I should weigh anything in particular, he just said that its common not o lose all excess weight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
