Had my surgery 9/4, that night my left side (by my ribs) incision started bleeding, and bandage change after bandage change wouldn't get it to stop. The next day the nurse & dr applied a pressure bandage to it, which hurt like holy heck! That finally got it to stop. I had my staples removed on 9/12, the nurse put a few steri-strips on it to make sure it wouldn't open back up. Fast forward to now. I haven't had any issues with it, but it just hasn't completely healed. It doesn't look infected, but part of it is still open. Here are two pictures, one when I was released (you can see all my incisions, but the one that is blackish is the one with the large clot on it) the other tonight, the close up of said incision. What do you think? My next appt isn't until 10/17, but I can see about getting in this week.

I would get it checked out. It looks like it could be pretty deep and you don't want it to become infected.

Mine took over 2 months almost 3 to heel. It got infected and the doctor opened it all the way so I was walking with my incision open for a while. I went to CVS and got gauze, tape and neosporine so every time I'd wash it with Water dry it with the gauze and I'd put NPE and the cover it and I was fine but yes it takes a while. Just make sure it is dry and clean do it at least 2 times a day

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
