lessofmeismore 1,405 Posted October 1, 2012 Were you able to urinate before you left the hospital? How was your output? Are you home or still in the hospital?

lessofmeismore 1,405 Posted October 1, 2012 You could be having bladder spasms. It is important that you are able to urinate. Try to relax and give yourself a little longer on the toilet and see if you can, if you start to feel like you need to urinate and it becomes painful with a full bladder, go to the ER Hopefully this is just temporary. Your in my thoughts, I hope you get some relief. One other question, are you getting in enough Fluid? 1 gabby899 reacted to this
keldolbeth 262 Posted October 2, 2012 I stayed one night in the hospital and I spent most of it in the bathroom trying to pee. Every trip I literally spent 30-45 minutes, sometimes an hour because I fell asleep, on the toilet. No pain or pressure either. I've had UTIs before and I knew it wasn't that. The nurses didn't seem too concerned. It lasted like that for probably 48-60 hours post-op. Guess that wasn't much help but at least you know you're not alone! delta_girl 931 Posted October 2, 2012 I had the same problem for several days after surgery. I had a lot of trouble going to the bathroom. It was a scary feeling. Thank goodness it eventually got better around day 4-5.

ozeedonkee 145 Posted October 10, 2012 Strong smelling urine (and dark yellow in colour) is usually caused by dehydration. However, see a Dr and have it tested! You are far better off not leaving it until other symptoms appear. 1 suegirl reacted to this
suegirl 109 Posted October 10, 2012 Dehydration and it doesn't take but a day or two after this surgery to get that way and dangerously so... if you have a strong smell, that could also be a result of the Vitamins you are taking since your surgery.. It could also be a sign of dehydration. You need to contact your doctor... Needing to go but unable too is a very significant sign of dehydration.
Cookeeeeez 269 Posted October 10, 2012 Smelly urine is also a sign of infection. Did you have a catheter? Is your urine cloudy? It can also be a sign if pregnancy or diabetes. Get it checked out! To OP, urinary retention is a common side effect if the anaesthetic in surgery. Hopefully it has resolved itself by now
guitar819 13 Posted October 11, 2012 Has anyone had trouble using the Bathroom? It feels like I will explode then when I sit down nothing! Is that normal Another reason urine smells is because of a lot of Protein, that is why we have to drink lots of Water....ketones makes it do that!!!
