I Finally Feel Normal

VSG-Cairo

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was my first day to eat out in a restaurant with friends after I got sleeved, for the first time in my life I finally feel NORMAL, I ate equal or maybe even less than what skinny people at the table ate, for the first time I don't eat out and feel guilty afterwards about how much I ate, or what I ate, and moreover I lost half a kilo the day after.

I ate half a slice of brown buttered bread and then ordered a small Soup and half way through the soup I couldn't finish, I had already ordered a main course plate which I had all of it wrapped to take it home.

The thing is, I eat around 600 to 900 calories a day, and I don't feel week or faint or anything, I go to the GYM, I still lift the same weights I did lift before the sleeve, and I rode my bike for 2 hours, I feel energetic and alive, it's what I ate b4 that made me lazy, I thank god I finally can lead a normal life and looking forward to the weight loss.

That's really great :) I'm pre-op and just yesterday I had to much to eat and felt sick to my stomach. I need to work on that.

In my Pre op days, I used to do the same thing, I would binge on food, and then feel guilty about it, I guess in the last few days Pre op I was so nervous that I over ate, I also had the false image that the sleeve would deprive me from eating things, which made me try to eat every single thing I liked, I found out this was completely false, after the sleeve I eat all the things I like, but in moderation, I now eat cheese cake one day and find out I lost a kilo the next day, of course I can only barely eat a quarter of a slice of cheese cake, but nevertheless less I feel satisfied.

Hope you enjoy your sleeve like I do.

You will feel the way I feel soon, and hopefully you will enjoy it, it's a liberating feeling that you're not hungry all the time as you were before, you actually find out that food crave was taking your mind of other joyful things that can be done in life, the sleeve to me is like that someone hushed that nagging voice up in my head that was crying all day " I'm hungry.....what's for Breakfast ....ounce....diner....snack" and so on

Hope every thing goes well with your surgery, and keep us updated on your progress .

It is indeed liberating! Yesterday we hosted a big cookout for my son's birthday. We had grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, Italian sausage, and a bunch of carb-heavy side dishes. We had my famous home made cheesecake for dessert.I had about a quarter of a burger, no bun, a very small serving of mac and cheese, a little kraut but no brat, sauteed peppers and onions but no sausage, and a few bites of cheesecake. I was totally satisfied and happy to have hosted the cookout.Life's good.

Wednesday I will be 2 weeks past my surgery. Eating normal food right now seems so impossible!! I ate some thick potato Soup last night and felt like it would never get through LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
