When you get shellac removed, the nailbed can be dry, but goes back to normal in a couple days. My nails aren't damaged though, quite the opposite. :)

If you get REAL CND SHELLAC there is absolutely no filing, scraping, grinding or damage to your nailbeds.

Most people that have poor experiences with shellac get a similar product like Gellish or Gelicure at the salons and the nail tech is applying & removing it improperly.

The kits you can buy online or in Walgreens don't use professional grade products and will not give you professional results.

If you don't like nail salons, don't like long-term cost or simply must DIY- my advice is to get a couple of REAL CND SHELLAC manicures from your local CND certified salon to make sure you understand the process and then go buy your own CND UV light, polishes and do it yourself. It's a little spendy upfront- but worth every penny.

You can check out the CND website for product details and certified salons in your area. Google someone named FingerNail Fixer for YouTube videos on propper shellac techniques.

@smb... My own personal experience is with the UV light in the Mally 24/7 professional 17pc gel kit through QVC and it is amazing!! Dry instantly. The kit comes with step by step instructions on how to put on and remove. Kit has everything you need. I saw other UV light and gel nail products in Ulta but have not used them myself. When I run out of Mally remover or want a different color, other than the 4 included in the kit, I may go to Ulta. I personally will always use these gel products. I had no idea such a great nail product existed until this. Oh, and an added plus, my cuticles are sooo much better and rarely get hang nails anymore. I just thought bad hang nails were just something I would always have to live with. This is the future of nail care, imo. I wish it wasn't so expensive, I'd buy it for all my friends and all ladies in the family. Guess this is one of those things, ya get what ya pay for. Good luck and let me know how it goes if you purchase anything! :)

I thought UV light was bad for your hands? I like the sally hansen nail polish strips. I am a cashier and with stocking shelves and working the register those last at least 2 weeks.

I use the gel perfect kind, i get it at Walgreens for 10.00. it's just like polish and it usually stays till I remove it. It's a good alternative to going to the salon, I spend my extra money on clothes these days :-) but when your healing, taking your Vitamins every day your nails will go like crazy!! I love my nails now. They used to crack and peel pretty badly!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
