What Size Do I Make?

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I sent my favorite hand-knit sweater through the dryer and, well, it shrunk/felted/broke my heart. I bought some yarn and I intend on making the pattern again (the Dollar-and-a-Half Cardigan by Interweave Knits) out of a cotton blend this time. I'd like to start knitting it now, but I have no idea what size to make. I will be 225 by my surgery date (next week, eek!) and hope to be down to 140 by next year. Any advice?

I also found this fantastic cloth to make a skirt, but I'm holding off so I don't make something that I will be swimming in by winter. Is anyone else experiencing this type of frustration?

Yes, absolutely. I am 6 weeks out and I haven't made a thing. It's like having crafter's block because you don't want to make something that will be too big. I'm having the same issue with clothes. My clothes are getting really loose, but I don't want to go buy something just to have it not fit in a few weeks. The only thing I've really purchased is swimsuits, because a swimsuit falling off during Water aerobics would be BAD!

I really need to get back on the wagon. Maybe I'll just start with a scarf or something that's one-size. How are things going for you post-surgery?
