Wow, I haven't been here in ages. I'm 30 pounds from goal and lost 124 so far. I've been lazy with my exercise and need to get back on track with it. Once you stop exercising, it's just to hard to get back to it, you know?

I have lost 66 pounds and am only 15 pounds from my goal. I will probably try to lose another 5-10 pounds once I hit 149 but we will see. I actually have folks say I don't need to lose more but I can;t see where they are coming from.

I feel great. Starting exercising 3-5 times a week last September so I have gained alot of muscle and trimmed alot of inches. The holidays were amazing as everyone was in shock to see me. But then I got sick right before New Years with flu and pnuemonia - lost 5 pounds but it stopped my exercising cold. I wasn't able to get back to the gym for two weeks.

I visited a plastic surgeon about cosmetic surgery and it looks like I will have to have 3 different procedures - the first being a lower body lift, abdominoplasty and liposuction. Glad I still have more weight to lose before I have to make a decision about all this.

How is everyone else doing? Robin

Overall I've done pretty well... some ups, some downs, but still I've lost lots of weight. Of course I HAD lots to lose! I am at last getting the knee replacements which have been my goal from the beginning. The couch is missing my constant presence:tt2: hahahaha! My exercise program is moderate but I stick to it pretty well. I stick to my diet though I have both weak times:thumbdown: and also times when I boost my intake deliberately to keep my metabolism cranking.

I am at a stall right now and I was wondering if anybody had any tips for bumping up the weight loss again. I hate to be greedy but my new knees will benefit from every pound I remove and I am still quite heavy. I've been bouncing around in the same 2-3 pound range for almost 2 months now. I've spiked my diet (up to 5-6000 calories:w00t:) a few times and gotten no change in weight loss. I've seen here where some have eaten large amounts of chocolate etc. to get a bounce in weight loss... :confused2: but that can be abused I bet! Sweets don't do it for me anyway... maybe I need a couple pounds of bacon hahahaha.

The bottom line here is: 800 calories/day or 5000 calories/day seems to yield the same result!!:)

I do expect to move up my exercise program a bit after the knee surgery, but I hate flat-out exercising and I'm not gonna kid myself into thinking I'll become a 'work-out king'. I need to keep the diet working for me during this period of time. Any suggestions??

It has been awhile since I posted but I am 73 pounds down and only 9 pounds from surgical goal. Family and friends say I can stop and that I look good but I still want to lose 10-12 pounds. I am wearing a size 10 and exercise 3-5 times per week with jogging, lifting light weights and stair stepping. It is so wonderful to go clothes shopping because everything fits! I finally have a new wardrobe which I have worn for several months. Before I would wear something for maybe a month or 2 and then go up 10 pounds and never wear it again. How are all the August 2006 bandsters doing? Robin

Ok, I havent' been here in forever! Hope everyone is doing well and still loosing or at goal!

I reached the 100 pounds lost mark a couple weeks ago and man that felt good! I still want to lose another 25 or so, but, right now if I never lost another pound, I'd still be thrilled. The weight is definately coming off slower now, but I guess that's to be expected. At least it's staying off, which is all I can ask for. I'm really not exercising, which I'm sure is why it's coming off so slowly, but right now I just don't have the time. I'm still more active than I've ever been and moving way more, so I guess that balances out. I really need to get back to my workouts though. Hopefully with the nicer weather I can start walking. I really want to start training so I can do the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training marathon next year, but have no clue where to start. Maybe I'll make that my new goal.

OK, I am as guilty as everyone else for not checking in more often.

The last two years have definitely been an experience, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have had my ups and downs, complications, etc., but I still believe getting my band was the BEST thing I have ever done in my life.

I have lost a little less than 100 pounds and only want to lose another 25-30. If I didn't lose an additional pound after today, I would still consider myself a success story.

This past Thursday I was back in the operating room for Lap-Band revision surgery, yes my band slipped due to vomiting (just don’t do it), and to have adhesions removed. My docs were able to save my band and re-seat it while they were in there, so I have a second chance. I have the BEST doctors anyone could ever ask for and have been nothing but supportive with everything, even the slip.

Some information regarding my slip: I just want to advise everyone that if you, at any time, feel like you can’t swallow more than a sip of Water, go get an unfill (even a slight one) immediately. I wish I would have learned this earlier. I would go for months with no problems and then one morning I would wake up and couldn’t drink even a sip. I would try to live with it a few days (vomiting every time I tried to drink) and eventually take myself in for an unfill. Not going in for unfills is just as nonproductive to your success as not going in for fills.

It looks like everyone is doing wonderful. Congrats to all. Thanks for being there the few weeks before and the months after surgery. Each and every one of you has been and continues to be an inspiration.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
