I'm 3 weeks out but I'm so down. I get my liquids. Protein is hard I'm averaging 50 on Proteins with usually no more than 550 calories. Can't seem to get the Protein in with food. I have to end up drinking a Protein shake. I thought it was because I wasn't regular on my bm's. Ive fixed that and I still feel the same way. I just have no energy and I'm really depressed.

Before sugery I never took a break and had so much energy. I keep reading how everyone has so much energy and I have to take a nap if I do to much in the day. The Dr cleared me to workout but I've only been on a couple of walks. Before I used to walk 5 miles a day in 34 minutes that was even the morning of surgery. Now nothing even close. I'm getting more and more down. What can I do?

I've lost 20 lb since surgery but I feel like its all of my muscle that I worked hard to build up.

I am 18 days out. You won't be able to get all your Protein in for a while without consuming shakes. I have 6 "meals" a day, as I can only consume 4 oz at at time. This seems to keep my energy up and I walk for at least 40 minutes of intentional exercise a day besides regular activity. I am sure the more real food we can eat the more energy we will have. Hang in there...................you are in this for the long haul.

Do you take an anti-depressant? I am still taking prescription from before surgery and it helped my mood alot. I did not really have the mood swings that some have discussed on the forums. There is no stigma about taking them; everyone does in today's society where economies are crashing and food prices are skyrocketing. Just jeep in mind that moat take at least 6 weeks to start making a difference in how you feel. Be careful about substitution addictions where you replace good emotions from food with something else.

This is major surgery. It will take your body a while to recover. It is natural to be tired. In a few more days, you will not be as tired and will have more energy as you lose weight. Hang in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
