Well I get to do the sleep study tomorrow night. My blood oxygen level dropped to 73% furring the pulse ox home test. I don't stop breathing, but I start breathing really shallow. So then I will begin breathing rapidly to try to get oxygen. Sound like I am running in my sleep.

the sleep study wasn't too bad

went for the "overnight", they put wires on my head, no big deal - didn't get much sleep cuz they periodically woke me

was diagnosed w/sleep apnea

received a small machine w/mask - didn't mind wearing, didn't make hardly any noise

big improvement from the good ol' days when it was a big machine making lots of sounds/noise - my dad used to have

shortly after WLS - had an oximeter (think thats what its called) at home - they attached/put on my finger for the night so it couldn't fall off

after test results i was called and said i don't need the sleep mask anymore !!!!

WooHoo

Hope that I can sleep some. Cpap worries me because I'm claustrophobic and can't stand things covering my nose and mouth. Don't wanna freak out and start ripping wires off me...

i do know a few people who have a CPAP machine. All of them say that after using it even the first night, they had the best sleep ever. They viewed it as a positive.

Yeah I'm so viewing cpap as a negative thing. You do know what claustrophobic means right?

You put something over my nose or mouth then say to relax, it's not happening. I started to panic when they put it on last night. sleep tech did a great job calming me down and made sure I was able to fall back asleep.

Never said it was negative. Said I was worried.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
