I take Protonix, you don't need to crush it. I started taking it one week after surgery. I started taking full on large Vitamin pills 3-4 weeks after surgery. You'll be fine, just take things as you can handle them.

Well, of course its best to talk to your doctor but I can tell you that I am day 6 postop and have been taking Protonix, whole pill, since day 1 in the hospital and ZERO problems. I am to take it every day for 2months. However, I don't have to crush any pills, not even my daily anti depressants. Since its not something you need, need for like pain or nausea, I'd just wait til the morning and ask the Dr.

I took my birth control pill 4 hours after surgery. And pills always went down better than thick volume of liquids

I stopped nuvaring a few years ago because I gained 20 pounds per month the short time I was on it... I should'v sued them for the price of my surgery cause that's when most of it happened. Lol. But recently because of my sleeve brain I couldn't remember pills so I went back to nuva thinking that the sleeve would stop me from giving into the insatiable caveman hunger that I had before. Well, ithe first month was fine but this econd month I have been hungry all day and all night. The only reason I haven't gained weight is because I eat lettuce instead of fried chicken when I'm hungry. But I don't know how long it'll be b4 the loss stopsbecause of this nuva ring. And btw the 20 pound thing also happened to my friend a couple years later who was skinny!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
