jacksmommy719 63 Posted September 27, 2012 I'm 3 days post op and no matter how hard I try I can't get all my liquids in. Using Isopure and Water and there is no way I'm getting my 40g of Protein or 64oz of water. Still in a lot of pain. Acid reflux and gas pain is almost unbearable. Afraid I will dehydrate 1 kparker0501 reacted to this
kparker0501 88 Posted September 27, 2012 Hi there! I am 4 days post op and I totally know what you mean. I have been in so much pain. Just today (day 4) it was a LITTLE easier. I can not do the Protein Shakes at all it makes me Ill. I can do small medicine cup sized sips only of chicken broth. I know what the goal is to have 60 g of Protein but i can only do what i can do. I figured that is better than nothing at all. Also try th popsicle. That worked good for me too. Easy to get down and it felt good . Water was a no go for me at all. It just nauseated me. U should b able to tolerate a little more every day. SMALL sips is the key. Almost like ur swallowing saliva.
norozco 18 Posted September 27, 2012 I'm doing 2 oz Water and 2 oz Protein Shake every hr awake.... So I'm guessing about 18-20 oz of each ????
jacksmommy719 63 Posted September 27, 2012 Can I assume the pains in my stomach are that I'm full?? Lots of gurgles and sounds too
kparker0501 88 Posted September 27, 2012 Honestly I don't know! I wondered the same thing. I always have like gas pains and bubbles and burps and I don't know if I am full or not . I have been very uncomfortable too. I just try to avoid overfilling myself. I do 2 medicine cups within 20 minutes, I wait and do it again in like 30 minutes. That's all I can do! ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted September 27, 2012 no way I'm getting my 40g of Protein or 64oz of Water. newbie Don't worry about getting a lot of Protein right after WLS - liquids are much more important using medicine cups to sip your Water is a good idea - sip your water very slowly, but as often as you can. Push the fluids is very important, but yes it can be difficult. Do the best you can You could have broth as a liquid - popsicles also count hopefully drinking will come easier in time - you must keep trying For acid reflux your dr could give you a script for Prilosec (or something else), that should help a lot good luck to you and all fellow newbies
MinaT 669 Posted September 27, 2012 Do the best you can, drinking out of the small med cups and drinking as much as you can is for the best. You aren't going to become Protein deficient in a small amount of time. Every day gets better than the day before and it was 5 weeks before i was getting all my Protein in. Mix it up if you can by trying some warm decaff peppermint tea with your favorite artificial sweetener (I prefer Truvia). It settled my stomach and the stomach gurglings and movements and all that was a lot of healing pains too. I seriously used med cups for almost 4 weeks straight. I thought I would never get to drink out of a normal glass again. Even after 4 weeks I had a rough time drinking out of a Water bottle because I was pulling in too much air. Do the best you can, concentrate priority on your liquid, the Isopure for your protein and I swear it gets better every day. 1 jacksmommy719 reacted to this
