mrs sandy r 152 Posted September 27, 2012 Surgery was yesterday , all morning I've felt like throwing up. Can't even drink my chicken broth. This is such a bummer, if I didn't feel this way, everything would be great. Anyone experience this? Sent from my iPhone using VST
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted September 27, 2012 The day after my surgery I tried to drink and cranberry juice and it sucked. All I did was sip Water all day and sleep. Didn't worry about foods at all. I took it easy the first week. Then I started adding Protein Drinks. Take it easy it is majorally important to get your water in by sipping, sipping, and more sipping. Mary K 3 Posted September 27, 2012 Suck on ice chips and don't try to drink any broth for a couple of days. Nausea will go away. It's way too soon to think about broth.

Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted September 27, 2012 Are you still in the hospital. If so they should be giving you an anti-nauseant. I had two days in the hospital and it went fine, I had constant medicine and no issues at all. You should contact your surgeon for some anti nausea meds so you can feel better. But keep trying to sip your Water as dehydration can also cause nausea, sip, sip, sip is very important.
CAsleeve 56 Posted September 27, 2012 It will pass! Be patient. So many good wonderful things to come. Could be reaction to anesthesia and other things. You've just had MAJOR surgery! You will have many throwing up experiences along the way until you learn to eat again. It just happens. Congrats on your surgery and your journey to a fitter, thinner you! One Love. JLOR 47 Posted September 27, 2012 I stopped all pain meds and magic I started feeling better. And the pain wasnt bad enough to need something so strong anyway.
mommeof3 58 Posted September 27, 2012 I was only able to have ice chips the day after surgery and i didn't even want that because I did not have and appetite. I am a week and some days out and still on clear liquid. I am sure that your symptoms will subside soon.
JLOR 47 Posted September 27, 2012 I should also have said yes I was on anti nausea and a patch for nausea and neither worked. I had to get off the pain meds because they were upsetting my stomach.
ntaschner 3 Posted September 28, 2012 I had that problem and requested they take me off the narcotics soon as they did they gave me Toradol and I was able sip everything my surgeon prescribed.
overboard 5 Posted September 28, 2012 I threw up for two days and could basically drink nothing. My surgeon told me that ice chips and ice were actually pretty hard to digest because there are no enzymes in it to help your stomach break it down. He suggested Decaf. tea as the best thing to drink. When I got home, I could only manage sugar free popsicles for a few days. A week later I was fine, drinking Protein etc. Water still doesn't sit as well as decaf. tea. I especially liked Tazo Orange Herbal tea. Good luck! It is worth it. mrs sandy r 152 Posted September 28, 2012 Thanks for the feedback. Yes , I'm still in the hospital getting meds for nausea doesn't seem to be helping. Trying to eat Jello & ice chips, which isn't easy to swallow. I'm walking around more & feel that is working with the gas. Thanks everyone , I know it will all be worth it Sent from my iPhone using VST
