LA_dreamer 54 Posted September 27, 2012 My insurance required I have a 5 yr history of a BMI of 40+. Does yours only require a one time or had you just lost weight and needed to get back up there?

I attached air of what my insurance states so if denied I will argue what they wrote I have always been at a BMI of 37-38 my sleep study came back good :/ so my O band center say gain to get to 40BMI.but I did need a 5 year history so I'm unsure. prettysleeved1 173 Posted September 27, 2012 That sucks but at least you are doing it the organic way. One doctor made my husband put on ankle weights and weighed him again so that he would be approved for RNY. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this

prettysleeved1 173 Posted September 27, 2012 I would not trust any doctor that was that unethical... Oh, he went with another doctor. The doctor that did that is very popular in DFW but he's unsavory.

But he ended up switching doctors and had to start the process all over. He got approved based on comorbidities. 1 keda reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted September 27, 2012 I had a low BMI and they were hinting on me gaining weight to meet their BMI requirements. I was approved by having diabetes. All the hoops for nothing. I do like the ideal of the ankle weights though. LOL Wish I would have thought of it. 1 keda reacted to this
