Omg...i Woke Up Pain Free!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 8/29. 4 weeks ago yesterday. I have had some terrible left sided pain when I stand, get out of bed or turn the wrong way. I have been wearing a binder to help also. But still have always had some type of pain . Last night at about 2AM, I turned over and felt a popping sensation in the spot that has been giving me so much trouble. Didn't hurt, just weird....I am wondering if there was an internal stitch that was tugging and it finally desolved and let go........

Well this morning I woke up and VIOLA...NO PAIN!!!

I'd almost bet it was an adhesion, something internally in your abdomen was sticking to something else, this can cause a scar tissue bridge to form and can cause a lot of pain. Normally all our internals are kinda covered in a kind of goo that keeps this from happening but with the surgery blowing your abdomen up with CO2 gas and him poking around in there they may have scraped enough off that something got stuck to something else.

My sister is prone to this and had a LOT of very painful adhesions, one the doctor broke the adhesion from the outside somehow by pressing on her. She said it hurt like hell and did the same popping sound you describe - and the same instant relief you got too.

I for one am glad I didn't have to go through this. Happy that you got some relief!

SO happy you are feeling better. How odd though! Good to hear that Rootman's sister had the same exact sensation! Yeah for no more pain!

My doctor said that there are some stitches done in the left side in the abdominal muscle that take 4-6 weeks to dissolve. I was experiencing the same pain (often pretty bad!) but it just went away this past weekend. For me, it was the only real problem I've had post op (except for picking up a box that was too heavy) so all things considered, not a bad trade off for a new life!

Good luck!

OMG this sounds like my pain!! I'm 24 days postop and having the same issues. Do you think massaging the area would help break it loose?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
