I just ordered these plates.. May be silly to some but I think it will help remind me of what I should be eating and how much. I ordered a really cut set for my grandson as well.

Www.theportionplate.com. I'm not eating yet but trying to be proactive ! Wishing everyone a skinny day!

It will also be a good idea to measure or weigh your food to ensure you get the proper portion size.

Good Luck.

Very, very cute!! The only problem I see is that we sleevers are supposed to get in so much Protein and not eat as many fruits. Maybe when one is further out those portions will be accurate? i'd love it if a veteran would chime in here because it's really a cute idea.

Thanks SO much for sharing.

I always pre plan and trust me, I am a very busy person, so anyone can do it ;). I pre portion everything when I cook it and if its for more than one meal, I package it in little containers per portion. I get lucky if I even finish one portion. I make sure I stay within each goal also. Example is this: 15-20 gram Protein, 4-5 grams fat, 10-15 carbs. Which makes my daily goals 60 protein, 15-20 fats and 30-40 carbs. My doc said I can have 40 grams fats but I like to stay at 20 and under and 6-800 calories.

SweetSusle,

Can you give me (us) some examples of what you make for your portions? Do you do it for the week? Day? I'm trying so hard to organize myself and I feel like i'm not doing a very good job of it. I don't eat red meats so i am a little bit more limited. Fish just doesn't seem to be keeping me fill for very long.

Thanks!

Of course Doxie ;). I make everything the night/day before. Breakfast is always the same because I can't handle much so early. I drink two cups of coffee with skim milk, stevia, and my Protein powder, I always mix my powder with skim milk before I add my coffee so it doesn't clump. lunch and dinner is always different. Just a sample , I always use my scale to measure 3 ounces of Protein and some veggies. Salmon fills me up for longer so I pan sear salmon with olive oil (3 ounces) add some lemon pepper seasoning and I cook it but not over done so I can reheat it. I take green Beans and sautée them for a few minutes until they're warm but still crunchy and just season with salt and pepper. I put my food in tiny plastic tupper wares to reheat. I always carry Protein Powder on me and will make a shake at work if I can't stomach anything or if I'm too busy. I work in a fast pace restaurant 6-7 days a week and long hours, so that's why. dinner you can make some boiled shrimp with a tbsp of cocktail sauce and some broccoli and a side of quinoa. I hope this helps. PM me if you'd like ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
