Surgery And Recovery Alone

Recommended Posts

Hey all please send up some good thoughts and prayers.

My wife and are are in a temporary marriage separation after 22 years together. (I have hope this will pass and believe I am doing my part to reconcile) I am staying with a friend for now. I have no plans of delaying my Oct 8 th date even if I am not at home, but will recover alone because my friend is gone a great deal of the time. Had preop this am at hospital, down 18 lbs and I just have to stick to this no carb diet 12 more days.

After surgery, I have two weeks off of work. I am an RN so I think I can make good post op decisions... My wife may or may not meet me the morning of surgery. Another friend can take me, but then he has to leave for work. I could just drive myself perhaps. Thought I'd just tell my Doc the wife had to stay at home with the kids.

I have three daughters, miss them a lot.

Help me see this clearly.

Thanks

Chad

I'm so sorry to hear about your separation. It sounds like you really want it to work, and I hope it does. Stay strong and healthy.

Oh no! Keep your head above Water and keep on track. One day at a time. Your surgery situation will all fall into place. I'm saying some prayers for you. Hang in there. :)

I am sorry for what you are going through and I do hope it all works out. If you have someone who can drop you off and then pick you up when you are released, I think that would be okay. Ideally, someone should be there until you are out of recovery. Not sure how long your stay will be, but make sure to take a few things to entertain yourself. I live alone with 2 dogs and my mom stayed for a week after surgery. Other than mowing the grass and feeding the dogs the first few days, I did just about everything myself. It was nice to have someone to hang out with, but I managed the remainder of my 1.5 weeks at home just fine on my own.

Good luck!!

I'm so sorry you have to go through this while starting a whole new chapter. Sometimes a little distance can work wonders in gaining some perspective It is a lot to work on at one time, a marriage and your health, but it is good you shared, you have a built in support system here... utilize it. Take strength from those around you.

Its good to keep on track with your surgery. It will give you something very positive to focus on. Stay strong for yourself and your girls. Good luck with everything.

You're making a lifestyle change that will benefit yourself and your daughters. That's a beautiful thing. The day of surgery you're going to be exhausted. I didn't even turn the tv on. How long is your hospital stay anticipated to be?

There is not a lot I will have to do here but drink liquids and recover.

Going to cut the grass a day or so before I go in for surgery.

And walk in the neighborhood.

Not having someone in the waiting area will be strange, I have to be there at 5 am.

:( sorry chad2rad, I hope wifey does come to help the day of op- I would (and know my partner would) even if we were separated, so I feel real bad for you :( I pray you find the love and support you need in these difficult times and that you have a successful surgery!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
