Weight Gain And Stall.

Recommended Posts

I lost a big chunk of weight in my two weeks pre op and my first 4 weeks after surgery. I started eating solid foods and the scale did not move for two weeks and I am actually gaining weight back. 3 pounds so far. Am not eating too many calories. Is my honey moon stage over???

You know I used to do the HCG diet and everytime there would be a stall they recommended an apple day. Don't exactly know why but it was like eight apples in one day and nothing else but water... Might try applesause all day???

I am 8 1/2 weeks out and have lost 31#. I have been at a stand still for 12 days. I actually gained 3 lbs within that time. I am getting frustrated because all I eat is Protein. What else should I do? I don't want to gain weight again! :(

Ok I found out more on the apple day your body is breaking down fat cells and your body is replacing the fat cells wit fluids the apples and Water supposed helps your body to flush the fat cells after the ketosis. Your body will then start to break down more fat cells

OK let me see if I can get it all in her...

Fat is being extracted from the cells, in which it is stored in the fatty tissue. When theses cells are emptied they serve no purpose, the body breaksdown the cellular structure and absorbs it. But breaking up of useless cells, connective tissue, blood vessels ect. May lag behind the process of fat extraction. When this happens the body appears to replace the extracted fat with Water which is retained for this purpose. As Water is heavier the scales may not show no loss of weight. When the tissue is finally broken down the water is released and there is a sudden flood of urine and a marked loss. The appleday will assist with the elimination of the Fluid

Are you 6 weeks out? If so the honey moon is not over, maybe a stall. Do you knw wht your calorie, fat, carb, & Protein is daily?

I use myfitness app to input mine daily. It helps a lot. Depending on what you ate eating & how much maybe switching things up from day to day. Like more for a few days then less, more carbs for a few days then switch it up w calories & fat. I hv been a slower user but I am losing & in inches also. I try to switch things up thru the week & sometimes it varies a lot. This is gross but Constipation can also put you in a stall, so making yourself go at least a few times a week helps a lot.

I am a little over 10 weeks and it is common to fluctuate. Look at the overall pattern of your loss.

I totally agree about the loss and then stall as your body readjusts itself. I know it is a very frustrating process!! I think many of us read about how some can seem to just have their weight fall off. I was not one of those. I usually lose consistently for a period of time and then gain a little or hover around a certain weight for awhile and then start dropping again and then repeat the cycle.

I actually use my Wii fit daily to track my weight and BMI. It is great because you can see your individual pattern of weightloss. This helps me focus on the long term and not stress so much about the quickness of the loss.

Before you know it the numbers will start to drop again, I promise!! Just stay focused on the end goal of your journey and don't be so hard on yourself. We all had to retrain ourselves for our new lives!!!

You will succeed!!

I am going through same thing. Lost 17kgs so far. Sleeved on 14 August, but stalled weeks 3-4, lost another 2kgs, then have stalled again for 2 weeks. Talking to detician, it's most important to eat 6 small meals per day to get in all nutrition you need and to not use Protein Shakes now as too low calories. I have to eat MINIMUM of 2 servings fruit, 3-4 of grain foods (bread etc), 1 serve fat (avocado, olive oil etc), 1 serving Protein, 3-4 servings of light vege and 1 serving of starchy vege (potato, corn etc) and 2 dairy serves, EVERY DAY and more is better, but all depends what I can get down. The more variety and frequency of eating the better for weight loss. If you don't eat min of this plan you will get sick and tired and weight loss will slow down. The less you eat the more your body thinks its being deprived and will fight against it be holding into weight. Hope this helps.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
