Ooops..i'm Overeating

Recommended Posts

Because I know that my surgery is coming up. it's like I'm eating stuff that I know I shouldn't eat post op. Like a starving person on death row. Is this normal to be so gluttonous before my upcoming surgery?

I'm not sure if its normal but I'm doing it too! I feel guilty but just can't seem to stop. That's how I got in this mess in the first place I know but sheesh... I don't start preop diet till next Thursday and my docs not real strict on that anyway. I haven't stepped on a scale in weeks to scarred to see the number. I'm actually excited for it to be mandatory that I do the preop diet maybe I can stick to it better .. I think I'm going to do two Breakfast and lunch shakes then high Protein dinner

Yup, perfectly normal. Not doctor recommended but perfectly normal. I ate everything that stood still in front of me long enough the two week prior to my one week pre- op diet . :)

OMG! Me tooooo! I feel like for once in my life I am not "watching" what I eat. Sometimes I enjoy it and sometimes I get upset with myself because I do it even when not hungry. As if I am never going to see this food again. It's crazy because although my tastebuds are having fun, I physically feel gross. Ugh..can't wait to be on the otherside!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
