The Pain Of After Surgery

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 9-12. Was in the hospital for 3 days. During that time my tail bone was giving me pain and my buttocks were numb from the position in those lame beds. Now sitting hurts laying down hurts. When I consulted the surgeon he says there's not much he can do just try sitting on a pillow. Wellno **** I've tried that. Plus the position ghat you have to sleep in bed to try to keep ur belly comfy is not to forgiving on that area. Did anyone else have any issue like this???

I slept in an inclined position and that helped a lot with acid and gas. It did make my hair a mess though. :)

OMG! I really feel you. I try to sleep inclined, and after a while my bottom hurts so so bad! I have been propping a pillow under my left side & leaning that way a bit and it helps relieve the pressure. I used to sleep on my stomach so it's been hard. My advice, experiment & use LOTS of pillows!!! Hope it gets better!

Yeah that was rough. I got a few pillows to strategically tuck places. It gets better Sweetheart.

I had the exact same issue. I slept In a recliner because I didn't need my CPAP in the recliner. But my tailbone really hurt from the pressure of that position.

I would alternate turning towards each side to take that pressure off - i used smaller pillows to slip under my tummy donut wouldn't pull on my incisions when on my side. This all got better when my incision pain went away and I could really totally sleep on my side. I would say it took a couple of weeks. Have someone check out the area too (I actually had a small area of skin breakdown, like a very mild pressure sore). Thus got better with some neosporin ointment and light dressings.

But- everything eventually resolved! Hope it doesn't take too long to go away! Wish you the best!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
