Started Second Week Of Post-Op Liquids And My Engergy Level Is Low...

Recommended Posts

I started my second week of the post-op liquid diet and my energy level is at ZERO!

I get little spurts of energy and then quickly have to sit, because I feel exhausted.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should try (liquid) that will boost my energy. (I think coffee is bad, so I am staying away from that... I used to be the only coffee addict before I started my pre-op diet.)

My doc advised that if your energy level plummets to try apple juice that is slightly diluted. It could be because your sugar levels are low. Apple juice is light and sweet. If you try it, I hope it works!

You might be low on electrolytes, you don't get much during the liquid phase. Some use Gatorade G2 (it's supposed to be lowest in carbs). My doctor prescribed Potassium pills that I halved, crushed and dissolved in Water. That helped me a lot. I had dizzy spells and he said it was most likely electrolytes. And make sure you're gettin 64oz or more of fluids in a day (protein drinks count). That will help with low blood pressure. Remember, your body is still healing so some lack of energy and rest is very normal!
