Mexico Octosleevers! Add Your Name, Date And Surgeon!

Recommended Posts

Hey there OCTOSLEEVERS! I had surgery Oct 27, and Im down about 35 lbs since day of surgery. I had a little stall at 5 weeks, but I've lost something every week. I TRY to weigh once a week only, but sometimes that doesn't quite happen.

Im very interested to see how everyone is doing...also, I find myfitnesspal.com to be incredibly helpful to track my cals/protein/vitamins etc...

Hope everyone is doing well!

My update.....

I had surgery 10/6 and weighed in at 260. As of yesterday day, I am 220. In the past 2 months, my life has changed completely. I started my dream job, got my first F in a class, broke up with SO and then sort of reconciled (still have issues), found out my grandma may have lung cancer (results tomorrow) and I find myself not handling stress that well. I've kind off been off program, so I started the 5 day pouch test. Hope it helps get me back on track, I feel like I can eat too much.

update:

I was sleeved 10/25. As of today I have lost a total of 54 lbs. I started at 324, lost 12 pre-op, and 42 lbs. since surgery. I'm now at 270 lbs. I hit stalls at weeks 3 and 6 where I didn't lose for 7 days straight both times.

I've also started exercising. I'm not seeing the scale move as much, but I can tell clothes are fitting differently. Really wishing I had taken measurements.

I also use and recommend MFP or something similar, and log everything. The accountability factor helps a great deal.

Wow Chel, that's quite a loss! I was sleeved on Nov 8th (after my October surgery was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy) and I'm down from 303 to 237, so 66 pounds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
