Ok, it been a year and I lost 107 pounds which I am now 147 pounds. :)

I been wondering if anyone has tried real sweets that not sugar free? I know that everyone is different but I have been really wondering about it. In my note book (which I was given before the day for my VS) It said, In low sugar that your allowed to have is 3 - 4 gms of sugar, no sugar added, or sugar free.< /p>

I always do a check to see how many gms of sugar it has, and most of the time it's very high in sugar which I have to go 'Ah, guess that means that I can't have that' which search thought everything, trying to find something that low in sugar or no sugar added. Now, there are somethings that do I miss. Specially, asian bakery which is one of the parts that I like to go to in the asian stores, and is one of my favorite places that I like to go, (H-mart or other good asian stores)

I'm impressed that at a year you've followed your diet so well! I'm almost 5 months out and I've had sweets. They do make me sick if I eat much, but otherwise it's been ok. Congrats on your success!

Yeah, I get the shakes if I eat too much sugar. But it doesn't keep me from doing it. It is all about moderation. I know ... we all have heard that one before ...

Thank you. I can eat almost anything. Just not spicy foods and yogurt that is high in sugar. I still wonder if it ok to have real sugar?

The only sweetener that made me feel sick is sweet and low. That was the only kind that my body didn't agree with. Other sweeteners that I had for coffee and tea are splenda and trunva. They both work fine for me, but another sweetener that I thinking about trying is Emerald forest xylitol. There some at Amazon website, and is a good 5 pound bag.

I'll maybe give it a try for baking a cake and see how that turns out.

A lot of people had mention not to get brand from china and make sure that you had it ordered that made in the U.S. only.

I'm going to let you in on a secret of mine and its called... whey Low granulated sugar... it has only 1net carb per tsp. you can google Whey Low and the manufacturer will come up. its kind of expensive but well worth it . I'm diabetic and its the only natural sugar I have used that tastes, looks, feels, and bakes just like real sugar!!! (and it doesn't effect my blood sugars at all.) I make a wonderful recipe called... black bean brownies...(just google that also) I use the whey low sugar and shazaam! you have chocolate brownies that I defy you to make out of a box and its high Fiber, low fat and sugar free! and so delish...I even add 1/4 C. ground flax seed to the mix and you really have high fiber. ( no pooping problems here ) Add Sugar Free Chocolate chips and walnuts to the top before baking and you have a treat from the gods. If you want more details on my concoction PM me and I will give you the exact recipe I use...Deb

I don't know..I would call them at the web site and ask if local health food stores have it..if not they do offer 20% discount for first time buyers, buy lots of it you won't be sorry. I ordered enough that the shipping was free, maybe you can share an order with someone? I truly have never had anything like it other than real sugar.

Too much real sugar makes me feel jittery, or shakey, but in moderation it's not a problem. I was at a birthday party, had some cake. I've also had the occasional cookie. I'd say- give the sweets you want to try a shot. If they don't sit well, then you know you should just stick to the diet plan you had before.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
