For anyone who had a drain...did anyone experience pain after the removal of the drain?

I still have some pain but a lot less since the drain came out, and that was a nauseating experience. Yuck! But my left side is much sorer than the right where I didn't have the drain.

Yeah I had pain before the drain was removed. It was removed yesterday and since last night there has been a pain increasing on the left side(drain side) and the inside where the drain was sitting. There is no puss but the drain site is red and they did say it could be an infection where the drain was inside of me. I have been in contact with the dr office and was told me if it gets worse to go in. I haven't been able to find anything on here about it to see if its normal to get worse before it gets better? It also hurts to take deep breaths only in the area where the drain was at. My plan is to wait and see how it is tomorrow and trying to avoid er tonight.

I did not have drains put in but i have been around a few people that have had them. Most of the pain goes away after the drain is removed. to me it sounds like the area might be infected. i would keep a close eye and go to the ER if it gets worse. I have had a wound infection before and it can be bad really quickly.

Yeah hat is what the concern is is that there is an infection inside. It does not look infected on the outside. Right now I plan on going tomorrow if its not better. It's just frustrating.

I had a drain but I did not feel any pain after they pulled it out. You need to go to the doc to see what is wrong ASAP.

I felt pain at my drain sight, more so than my actual incisions for at least a week after it was removed. There was no infection, those things just hurt when they are in and hurt even after they are out. Hope it is just a bit of healing pain and no infection for you.

Yes. It was terrible. And when I got home it was leaking after a day. It is better now

The drain bothered me the most. When they took it out it hurt because the gas moved. I got mine taken out before I left the hospital. I still have pain in the incision if I over do it. I'll be 3 weeks tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
