My experience with the Dr. has been amazing although my experience with the sleeve not so much. Well in my opinion anyway. I was expecting to lose more that 24 lbs within a month although if you read thru some of the other post that is in line with some other sleevers. If I was you I would also look into Washington Hospital Center. I've heard amazing things about their doctors and facilities.

I had my sleeve done at inova fair oaks hospital with dr Moazzez. I'm totally happy with my results. Tomorrow makes one week and I'm down 7 lbs. I'm sure it has a lil bit to do with being on an iv for 4 days. He also repaired my hiatial hernia.

He's with the bluepoint surgical group and those ladies are fantastic. They took care of everything I only had to show up!!

I had mine done with Dr. Halmi at Blue Point Group. They are a well-oiled machine. Just show up and do what they tell you. They are experts at getting the procedure approved. They have a complication rate that is an order-of-magnitude better than the industry. Post-op surgical care at Fair Oaks was exceptional. They have bariatric nursing specialists. It has been a very positive experience. I am 3 months post- op and down 75 lbs. It has been no big deal.

I'm having my surgery on Thursday October 18th with Dr. Brian M.Long at Sibley Hospital.

He and his staff are great! It's really a one stop shop. You can get your nutritionist visits, psychiatric evaluation and whatever other insurance requirement you may have to complete on site. You also get to meet with their personal trainer who specializes in bariatric patients pre- and post- op. Here's there website http://www.sibley.org/weight_loss/about_our_team.aspx

Before settling on Dr. Long I met with Dr. Brebbia at Washington Hospital Center, Dr. Vaziri at George Washington Hospital and Dr. Tran at Howard University Hospital. While they all seemed competent, it was the staff and comprehensive of the Sibley program that sold me on Dr. Long.

Sorry took so long for me to respond but I didn't have any problems with my insurance company. I never had to contact them at all. I just made the first initiate call asking if they cover the surgery. After that my doctor's office made the request. After I completed my six month weight management class the doctor sent in my request and in a week I had a yes, 2 weeks and 1 day later I had my surgery. PS I have Carefirst BC/BS.

I'm going though the beginning phases with Dr. Halbi at Bluepoint Surgical Group. He's got offices in Stafford, Woodbridge, & Fairfax. So far, so good.

I did mine at Virginia Hospital Center with Dr. Salameh. It was awesome. You are treated like a VIP through your entire stay. Dr. Salameh has a great nutritionist and the VHC program is more geared to the individual. It is a smaller program than the Fair Oaks program which is nice because it s a bit more personal.

Sleeved 12/17/12 and enjoying the adventure!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
