God no!!!!! I'm almost there...just waiting on final insurance clearance and then date will be set. But I chose a select few and know its no ones business!!! What your comfortable with is the right thing to do. Support is vital though. Don't do it alone.

I have been working on the process and have only told a handful. I just don't feel it's any ones business nor so I want to deal with any possible negativity. I just don't need the extra drama right now. Good luck to you how ever you decide to deal with it!!!

I've told one person, my husband. The only other people that know are the medical team. I feel it's no ones business but mine. :)

I told my partner (we live together so he would find out sooner or later), my mum and my sister.

I don't think I will tell anyone else, no one else really needs to know

Good morning... At the beginning of my process my excitement let me get carried away and I told many, but soon after experiencing much negativity, I stopped telling people. It's not worth all the explaining. Now that I'm getting close to goal I hear many compliments and I can't believe it, but everyone asks "how did you do it". It's not worth the aggravation of explaining, many think you had a by-pass and are scared to death, some think it's the easy way out etc. I just say, "the old fashioned way, calories in-calories out and consistent exercise 5 days a week". People can be very rude. I work in the public and last week had a regular client ask "what happened to your boobs"? I just said I traded them for lower blood pressure. I really am amazed at how noisy people are and how uncouth they are about your weight loss. Everyone is looking for a magic answer.

It is a personal choice, I wish I had not told so many. I had a tough time getting approved and the emotional roller coaster I was on let me spill the Beans to often. I wish you the best of luck.

To tell or not to tell, both are OK. Everyone is different, do what helps you.

I tell occasionally because I'm ornery and want to see how ignorant or smart people are. I like to see them squirm as they struggle with their own issues and try to transfer them to me. It is quite a remote possibility that they could tell me anything about the operation that I haven't already researched. The negative feedback is normally biased, hearsay horse-hockey, like the "news" from MSM. Sometimes I find an intelligent, emotionally mature person and have a decent conversation about the operation.

I truly don't care if they approve or not so any negativity does me no harm.

I end up in someway funny situation.

I told only my close family and only 3 friends and the lady who actually introduce me to the sleeve. And that Lady told everyone.... even person who I don't know. so I think now so many people knows ..... but I don't care. I don't think that sleeve is easy solution. people who are talking that way doesn't know what they are talking about.

I still have 3 other good friends who have no idea and I still cannot decided if I should tell them or not.

I've told one person' date=' my husband. The only other people that know are the medical team. I feel it's no ones business but mine. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

This is how I would like to do it. I don't want the "why don't you just work out" or "that's just so extreme" or "OMG, your kidding". I don't need that crap. This was a soul searching decision and I have made and I have to move forward.

Thanks everyone. All good points but ultimately I am telling no one. I can't deal with the negative comments. The "why's" and the "well if I were you I would........."

I am sure many of you know what I am talking about.

I have to meet with the doc hopefully this week and get the show on the road

"that's just so extreme"

day after WLS, roommate asked me what surgery i had? i thought a bit and then i told her. she was very nice and she said "thats just so extreme?"

i listened to those words, slowly i realized, yes it is extreme, but thats how out of hand my health situation etc. had become.

Initially i was shocked at her comment, but it was said with no malice - and she was right

No need to tell if you are not comfortable. I told a few people and some in my famiy, I didn't tell anyone at my gym so now they want to do a before and after poster on me, I won't do it because I would feel like it is a lie. Before I would work out like a madwoman and no results, now I workout as a normal person and have outstanding results. I would feel like a fake amd liar because it was all due to the surgery not the gym.

You just have to make that decision as you feel comfortable to do so. And don't feel pressure to do anything you aren't sure about. You will know whether sharing that information is a good idea when it happens!!

:D

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
