So I am currently down 73lbs...honestly can't believe it myself but it feels amazing! I went from a size 18, if I was lucky, to wearing anywhere between a 12-14....lord only knows how long it has been since I have seen that size! I have had an extremely positive experience with vsg and would do it all over again if necessary. I am loving my self again and starting to gain my confidence back to where it was before the massive weight gain! I was lucky that my recover was so quick and my three small incisions are basically gone....bikini body next year!! I a truly thankful every day for this surgery, it has changed my life! i am also very thankful for the continued support I get from my friends and family

Prep op: 258, surgery day 5/7/12 weight: 249, current weight: 185

newgrandmother, I don't have that problem. I know when I'm full, I burp, then I get the saliva in my mouth and if I've eaten too much, I get a heavy feeling in my chest and my throat. Then it comes back up, I'm having a problem eating slowly enough to get to the point of being full and not taking the next bite that puts me over the edge. I'm tired of throwing up!

In the beginning it is all trial and error...sometimes you almost have to over eat to know what your limit is! Believe me once you do you will know what is good for your body. At this point when I start getting burpy is when I know I have had enough.... I know disgusting! I have become a burping queen! Some food are a lot easier to eat than others but once you start consuming solids avoid foods like Pasta and bread...they taste good of course, but fill you up fast and give you little to no nutritional value! Good luck on your journey, enjoy the ride to weight loss and getting to the losers bench!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
