Since surgery (9/4/12) Water tastes disgusting to me. It has an almost metallic taste. I'm adding crystal light which helps but it has to be really cold. I'm super-thirsty and so desperately want to chug the bottle but of course get horrible pain if I take too much in. Does the water-taste thing get better? And will I be able to drink more volume more quickly as time goes on?

Well that's strange because Water LOVES you! ;) Water is going to be your best ally in this entire process.

  • It will flush all the spent calories and fat cells out of your system.
  • It will aid in the repair of your skin tissues as you lose the weight. I do believe it has helped my skin snap back as much as it did.
  • It will keep you hydrated as you will be eating less now, thus you will get less h2o from your solids.

Your body will be ever grateful if you keep up with your fluids. To answer your questions, yes the revolt gets better and yes in time you will be able to handle more water in one sitting. I'm barely 3 hours into my day and I've already gotten in 36 Oz. I'll be at 52 Oz in another hour.

Drink up!!

This is so true! When I don't get enough water, I feel so hungry and I eat a lot more! So let's all increase our water intake. :)

You can find True Lemon at a grocer. They come in little packets like Splenda. I got it to put on yogurt, but found it too tart. Will try it in Water. Watered down crystal lite isnt bad, but my digestive system is none too pleased with it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
