bethxxx 304 Posted September 24, 2012 So I have been browsing the site and have seen mentioned a 12 week program before surgery, appointments with a 'nut' (??), and people having to wait 18 months for surgery. Just wondering if someone can explain the process you have to go through in the states or any other country, I'm very interested. Here in australia I pretty much just made my appointment and that's it, no program, no ongoing appointments just a few tests. Thanks !
Nate 292 Posted September 24, 2012 The "NUT" is the Nutritionist that we see. Not sure about a 12 week program. But a lot of us have had to under go a pre-surgery diet, and or liquid diet to make sure the size of our liver is reduced and wont be an obstruction to the Surgeon during the operation. Also some of us are required by our insurance companies to under go a set amount of weight management appointments with a "NUT" or someplace like Weight Watchers. I had to go through 9 months of monthly Nut and weight management visits before my insurance would approve me for the surgery.
bethxxx 304 Posted September 25, 2012 Thanks for that info, I have to do a pre op diet too. I had to have insurance for at least a year before I could have surgery but luckily for me I already had when I decide to go ahead with this. Thanks again
