just wondering if any of you are able to tolerate sushi with your sleeve?

I just woke up and I was having a dream that I was eating sushi and now I'm praying I might be able to have some again someday LOL (I am only 10 days post op)

I am 9 weeks out and have tried sashimi and it was great. I am still afraid to try rice, I think it is most important to focus on Protein right now. Trying to get to goal! Someday!

Eventually, you should be able to eat anything you want to. I'm five months out and while I can eat sushi, I don't because of the carb count in the rice and because the rice tends to fill me up faster. When we got out for sushi now, I order sashimi so I can eat more and I also get more Protein this way. Lately when we've gone out, I look for ahi tuna appetizers. I order that for my meal as it is usually the perfect portion.

I love sushi and at 5 months out I can now tolerate most foods, but I order differently, usually starting with baked mussles that I share, and a roll without rice, there are different kinds including the cucumber roll. If I want to taste a specialty roll, I usually break it down a little and eat the inside and the toppings, but leave behind the rice and nori. I still love it and do what I have to do to enjoy it - and it is super high in Protein, low in fat and good for us sleevers!

Tolerated sushi fine but had a very small amount. It was my first adventure into real foods and I had 2 slices of an 8 slice roll. (shrimp and crab inside- spicy tuna on top) For me the amount of carbs from the small bit of rice was low enough to fit my doctors guidelines. Filled up rest of the meal with imitation crab meat for extra Protein. It was not a problem with my sleeve at all and I have had the same meal a 2nd time. It is my favorite too.

that sounds delicious! will have to try it when I get to "regular food" again LOL I think I'm just a bit bored with full liquids and Protein shakes and that's prob why I was dreaming that I was eating sushi hahahaha I've got at least a couple weeks still but it's nice to be able to look forward to a couple bites of one of my fav foods and to know that there ARE healthier option than what I've ordered in the past :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
